This book focuses on identifying and altering your default setting, enabling your reality to align with your goals rather than your inner critic's sh*t talk and BS story. The story playing on loop in your mind was created when you were young in an effort to keep you safe. That "safety" is no longer needed, and your mind/inner critic needs to know that. However, just telling it doesn't work. It's sort of a process, and that's what this book is meant to do.

I created and trained ShiftTalker step-by-step with my Sh*t Talk to Shift Talk book. My tone (kinda' sarcasm/kinda' kind) is something you'll pick up right away. I packed so many (but not all) of the tools and techniques, mind challenges, and comebacks into it so you can get a TRUE feel for the book. There are prompts you can use on the open screen, but you can also just ask a random mindset question like, "why do I constantly sabotage my goals?" and see what you get back! If you're familiar with Neuro-Linguistics then use it as an easter egg hunt and see how many you can identify!

Color & Breathe To Calm

A lot of adults like coloring because it's a "good distraction." It is, that's true, but it's also one of the fastest ways to get your brain into an alpha state wave, which is also referred to as the relaxed state. These "coloring books" were created to help people experience a level of calm that exceeds what's obtainable with just coloring. For each image, there is a breathing exercise or meditative exercise that amplifies the level of calm experienced.
During stress or panic, the sympathetic nervous system, responsible for the fight-or-flight response, is in overdrive. Slow, deep breathing stimulates the vagus nerve, which activates the parasympathetic nervous system (the system that promotes relaxation, digestion, and recovery). Deep breathing lowers heart rate, reduces blood pressure, and sends signals to the brain that there is no immediate danger.
By pairing coloring with slow, rhythmic breathing, you create a two-part system that helps reset both the brain and body. As you focus on filling in a design, your mind becomes anchored in a calming, repetitive activity. When combined with deep, controlled breathing, this practice strengthens the connection between the prefrontal cortex and the amygdala, improving emotional regulation over time.
One of the GREATEST benefits of this combination is the control you learn you have. See, calm is sort of a learned (or rather, relearned) behavior. The more you practice the breathing techniques while you color, the more your mind gets used to the state of relaxation. It will then start to associate the feeling with the breathing technique you're doing. So essentially, you are teaching your mind to access this calmness ANY time you begin to do the breathing technique it's associated with.
It's not exactly like you can whip out a coloring book to calm down when you're in a stressful meeting with your boss or arguing with your teenager - but you CAN breathe! Find techniques that are easy for you to remember and practice, practice, practice. Then the next time the asshat boss gets going in a meeting because they love to hear themselves talk, just...breathe. You'll be amazed at how quickly it can take you from "I swear I'm gonna' quit" to "Whatever, it's almost Friday."

Color & Breathe To Calm For Kids Is...
A collection of stories, characters to color in and "secret power" breathing techniques. Each book topic narrows in on one area that a child in that age range may struggle with - confidence, big emotions, separation anxiety, sharing, new siblings, change, and fears of things like the doctor, going to school, making friends, and a ton more. Within each book a child and their caregiver can read about the characters in the stories that are dealing with similar challenges, color pictures of the characters, and practice breathing techniques while they consider some of the discussion-prompting questions. Yes, this is relaxing for kids, but moreover, the stories are metaphorical in nature and written from a linguistic focus so the child can find their own ways to connect with the character and their win to help identify their own.

These journals, planners, and activity books are created in a way that they can be used as either a stand-alone tool or as a complement to any of the ShiftBooks.
